Fiona Kennedy presents
The Kist
'A chest of Scotland's musical treasure - a fusion rich in colours and culture.'
Experience Scotland's vibrant musical heritage with a twist in a brand new production from the multi-talented international Scottish singer and broadcaster, Fiona Kennedy. She is the master-mind behind The Kist which runs for 18 days during the 3 week world premiere this year at the famous Edinburgh Festival, one of the most exciting cultural destinations in the world.
Fiona's passion for music has led her to produce 'The Kist', a captivating and vibrant new production which sets to wow audiences, with ancient and modern music beats, connecting audiences from all corners of the globe. The traditional music encompasses the dramatic scenery of Scotland which it penetrates through the emotionally charged ambiance.
The world premiere of The Kist comes to the Edinburgh Festival in August 2011 and will champion work from around the world with a phenomenal cast and special guest Grammy award-winning, Nashville based, Marcus Hummon.
Fiona has worked tirelessly to promote Scottish musical talent in the UK and USA. One of Pixie productions most promising young singers is Ruaridh McDonald (II) whose angelic voice brought emotion to the crowds in a truly heart-felt performance at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen.
Fiona was the Executive Producer for the transatlantic success of television programme and stage production 'Highland Heartbeat'; an enthralling show which put Scottish music on the global map. The TV special featured Scotland's immense talent and was aimed at the U.S.A and Canadian markets and resulted in two follow up albums and a tour.
The Kist, which will follow in its predecessor's success, will become a musical platform for home grown talent. The show tells the musical story of the Scots from the tribal rhythms of the Gael to the upbest music of today. The Kist's meaning originates from a wooden chest and symbolises the trunks every immigrant Scot took to America with them to carry their worldly possessions. This international musical journey aims to launch a nationwide search for exciting and dynamic talent in Scotland.
